Frequently asked questions | Tips and tricks before you buy

For both SafePay and non-SafePay listings we strongly recommend you follow the following suggestions.

Check seller reviews
Be sure to check that the seller’s reviews are predominately positive. To do this you will need to visit the Profile page of the seller you are looking to purchase from (click the seller’s name or the ‘Profile page’ under the individual item page).

Message the seller
Send the seller a quick message to check that they are an active member and that they are willing to take the time to talk to you.

All listings expire after 21 days. Therefore, if an item is listed for sale on Fashbae the seller must have been active on Fashbae at least from this date onwards.

Ask for photos of the item
It is always a good idea to ask for a specific photo of the item. This will prove to you that the seller does have the item in their possession. This is especially a good idea if the images uploaded are from the original website that the item was purchased from, and not taken by the seller.

Ask for the seller to contact you via another communication method
Getting the seller to contact you via text, phone, email or through Facebook is often a good means of checking if a seller is legitimate or not. By simply looking at the seller’s phone number, you will also be able to see if it is a New Zealand number. Some sellers may be reluctant to do this, and do remember that giving your personal information to other website members is at your own risk.

Ask for the seller to send a photo of their ID
Asking for a photo of the seller’s ID will allow you to have proof their name matches that of their Fashbae account, that they are a legitimate person, and live in New Zealand (if a NZ ID). Do note that some sellers may be reluctant to do this.
